Linuxmint 7 64 bit, which is based on Jaunty Jackalope (Ubuntu 9.04) even Linuxmint 10.
On my laptop I only have a 15 inch sreeen and didn't like when opening a terminal window, fortune taking a bunch of space.
So here is how you can remove it .

# sudo nano /etc/bash.bashrc Remove line near the bottom with fortune in it.
